I've heard much hub-ub about Gilpin's Bagel and finally found the time to get there!
When you sit outside - make sure you don't assume they're going to bring your sandwich out to you or say your name loud enough for you to hear. We went outside and they brought Marla's sandwich to her...
Then...I sat...and waited...and waited...and waited. I probably waited almost 10 minutes from when Marla got her wrap. Then one of the counter guys came out and asked if one of us was Heather and that my sandwich had been ready for a while. Let's just say he wasn't full of customer-friendly service at that moment.
Now I should have gone in sooner - cuz I was starting to get annoyed. But when they brought my friend's sandwich to her - I just assumed they were bringing mine too! I'd never been there and it wasn't that busy.
So note to the Gilpin's Guys - if I don't come get my sandwich in 5 minutes - holler my damn name a little louder.
It was definitely still hot when I got it ten minutes later...but I have to say...I didn't love it. I think I like the toasted rather than the steamed. I love hot sandwiches - so I will always choose that - but not sure the steamy is for me.
It did seem fresh and I might give it another try and pick one of their pre-selected choices.

That's a fetching bagel pic!
ReplyDeleteEverything Bagel with garlic and herb spread, turkey, bacon, pepperjack, lettuce, red onion, salt, pepper, oregano, hot sauce, spicy mustard and extra horseradish...oh so delicious
ReplyDeleteI am so sad to see you dont like Gilpin's. I love that place and I usually like your reviews.
ReplyDeleteHere is what I get all the time (try it out and see if you like it also):
1.) #1 Winner (Customer Sandwich)
2.) Jalapeno Chips (Goes well w/ Banana Peppers and the Pepperjack cheese.
3.) Purple Diet Mt. Dew (doesnt taste diety)
4.) Followed up with one of their cookies. (You def. missed out on a good cookie)
I must say I am jealous that they brought your sandwich out to you. I didnt think they did that since they do not have servers and are behind a counter and the door to outside is closed every time I go. Next time I go I am going to sit outside and wait and see if they bring it to me. haha
Keep up the food reviews and what restaurant is next!?
Well the door was open the day I went...at least now I know! I'll have to give it another try...
ReplyDeleteNext up for review...I think Skinny Legs in Bellevue...
Any suggestions?
So, I tried sitting outside today and waiting for my sandwich and did not have as much luck as you. One of the owners called me out when I walked back in to get my sandwich. He asked (jokingly)if I was trying to pull a, "Food Hussy" on him and then he noticed I ordered the #1 winner and thanked me for my post and GAVE ME A FREE SANDWICH!! He told me he wants you to try some sandwich out that is similar to the one you got, but with a combination that goes together well (I forgot the name of sandwich). But, my friend tried their, "Supermario" sub sandwich and loved it. Yes, def go in and try them out again.
ReplyDeleteAs far as suggestions. Yes, I have a couple that I like. Sunshine Deli (It's nothing crazy or unique, but its just a good cold sandwich deli and the guy there is funny). It's Just Crepes (I cant believe you have not tried them out yet. Great unique concept that is good when you sit and eat in). Habanero (In Newport. Its similar to chipotle, but a little more $. But, make sure to try out their chips. very good). The View (In Mt. Adams) Beluga (great sushi and atmosphere), Taco Casa (Amazing Tacos), Arthurs (its ok, but no zips, but kinda similar burger to Terry’s Turf minus the pound of butter and way better than Terry’s Turf). I’ll think of some more and let you know. Good luck tasting!!
Ha - well that's funny that I'm being referred to by name!
ReplyDeleteI'll go back and try the Supermario!
Now - Sunshine Deli - is that Sunny Deli in Carew Tower? Its Just Crepes - yes wanna go. Habanero - been there, don't like it - I know I'm the only one. Taco Casa - where??? Is that in Hyde Park?
Thanks for all the suggestions! I love it!
