I sent a barrage of emails/tweets before the holidays to get some new giveaways for the site and ended up with a lot of great stuff! Gotta make sure I remember them all! First up for the new year is Mrs. Renfros!
They sent me a sampler pack of 4 sauces - I got to choose which ones I wanted from their vast selection. The black bean salsa is something I discovered when I lived in Iowa and have been a fan of for years. That said - I decided to branch out and try four kinds I had never had before!
Ah cheese, how I miss you. I tried this back in 2010 (2 whole weeks ago) and have to say - it was a little disappointing. It had a bit of vinegar taste that I wasn't prepared for. Very "fake" cheesy - sorry Mrs. R!
Next up the Smoky Roasted Salsa - be sure to note the word SMOKY! The flavor is good but the smoke is a bit potent. I was really looking forward to this one but it's not my favorite. The black bean is much better.
Pineapple Salsa - I thought - well what the hell!?! Why not try it? Larry likes pineapple and so do I. Surprisingly this is REALLY GREAT! I have to say the pineapple is subtle and adds to it nicely. I never would have thought this would be my favorite over the roasted but we loved it!
Lastly - my favorite - the Mild Chow Chow! This is basically like a kick-ass relish. I went for the mild but definitely would like to try the hot. Larry isn't a relish fan so this whole jar is mine. I've used this on sandwiches, nachos and more. Basically I'm replacing cheese with this and it has a lot more flavor. I love it!
Now it's your turn - if you'd like to win a 4-pack sampler from Mrs. Renfros - just comment on this post what flavor you'd like to try from their site and be sure to leave contact information (either email or twitter) so I can get it touch with you if you're the winner.
You get an extra entry if you tweet the contest as well - be sure to leave a second comment letting me know you did and your twitter name. (Remember - I'm @foodhussy!)
Thanks again to Mrs. Renfros for the sample pack for me and for my readers! Good luck - I'll post the winner this Friday!

This is hard. I really wish the review of the cheese sauce was better. I'm such a sucker for cheese. Hmmm...
ReplyDelete- Black Bean Salsa (because you liked it so much),
- Medium Salsa (so versatile),
- Country Syrup (I spent too long in the South), and
- Chipotle Corn Salsa (I just can't resit salsa with corn).
Awesome give-a-way!

Hi Heather!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the Green Salsa, but that cheese sauce looks awesome. Since you can't have the cheese, I'll be sure and share the yummy review with you if I win. : )

As a child, chow chow was always served with our meals. I had no idea anyone else had even heard of it. My aunt passed away years ago, and her recipe went with her. Yep, I just played the deceased relative card! Producerjodi@gmail.com
