It's becoming a bit of a Mother's Day Tradition for us to take my mother-in-law out for Mother's Day and for the 2nd year in a row - we'll be headed on a tour of historic homes!
Last year at this event - my husband was recognized - a very nice woman came up to him and said, "I know you - you're the Food Hussy's husband!". Poor guy - can't even go to a home tour - he's so famous! ;-)
This year, the Cincinnati Preservation Association’s 2015 Spring House Tour features six historic homes, including a condo in the Belvedere, on Rose Hill Avenue in North Avondale on Saturday, May 9 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
North Avondale is one of Cincinnati’s most architecturally distinguished neighborhoods. In the mid-1800s large tracts of land were subdivided and wealthy merchants and manufacturers began building large homes on spacious lots. Businessmen such as Andrew Erkenbrecher, Samuel Pogue, Frank Herschede, and Barney Kroger built homes on the neighborhood’s winding tree-lined streets. Today historic homes in North Avondale range from the 1890s to 1930s and are still some of finest examples of residential architecture in the city featuring Italian Renaissance, English Medieval, and Greek Revival styles.
Cost is $25.00 for CPA members and $35.00 for guests/nonmembers. Tickets are $35 for everyone if purchased on the day of the tour. Cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard are welcome.
