I went someplace new-ish and they blew my mind with a loaded tater tot waffle.
Press on Monmouth - the sign may look familiar because it used to be called The Factory Buvette & Bar - same place, same inside, just a new name - and probably some new staff.
They serve a wide variety of beer as well as some wine in a can - who knew?! They're also a full serve coffee shop.
The menu is very unique is mainly a breakfast & lunch spot but also they serve until 8pm a few nights a week. Deciding was NOT easy - here's a few things I didn't choose:
- Breakfast sandwich with croissant, over easy egg, avocado, tomato, cheddar & chipotle sauce
- Short rib frittata
- Grippos crusted mac & cheese
- Poutine Loaded Tots with short rib & cheese curds
- Prosciutto pressed sandwich with provolone, pesto, arugula & fried egg on ciabatta
So what did I choose? First up - we shared the Brussels Sprouts Loaded Tot Waffle that was topped with sprouts, tomato, artichokes, parmesan and pesto. This was AMAZING. I nearly got it as my main item but Susie said she wanted to try it too so we decided on it as an appetizer. I really can't express how good this was - the balance of flavors and just the complexity of it - every bite had something different! I would love to throw on some bacon and some balsamic vinegar though...just to kick it up a notch.
Susie got the Cubano sandwich and it came with a small side of greens and house-made pickles. She was happy with her sandwich choice.
I chose the Flat Iron Steak sandwich with a side of greens and house-made pickles. The roll was good but really crispy. The steak was very tender and it was cheesy and saucy. All in all - a good sandwich - not as good as that Tot Waffle but very good.
Why Should You Go? I really like it - they have a wide variety of options - even a decent amount of vegetarian options. I would really like to try it for breakfast as well - that sounds amazing. Give it a whirl. Plus - you can always find a parking spot!
