Recipe: Haunted Halloween Bark!

If you're looking for a fun, easy treat for a Halloween party - this is it! Haunted Halloween Bark!

It's a really simple recipe that you can get the kids involved with! It only requires a few bowls and a microwave!

There are all the ingredients! Candy melts, almond bark, Halloween oreos and Reese's pieces! The best part of this recipe is that you can modify it by the holiday or your favorite cookies & candy.

First - you lay parchment paper out on a cookie sheet. I tried to tape this down - but turns out - just creasing it into the corners was enough to hold it in place.

Next - choose your cookies and break the up. I used the end of a butter knife and then realized breaking them by hand was just as simple. The kids would love this step! Another site recommended putting them in a ziploc and using a rolling pin. Scatter them on top of the parchment paper as evenly as possible.

Then - add your candy! Whatever candy you like - just sprinkle it across the parchment paper.

Then you melt your bark/melts - I used almond bark (which is white) and then candy melts. Wal-Mart carries a bunch of them in a wide variety of colors - they're in the cake decorating section and aren't expensive at all!

I found that the almond bark melts better to be more "pourable".

Here's a bit of a #fail moment on my part - the orange candy melts weren't really melty pourable. I thought maybe a TINY bit of water would water it down a little. Um no - it congealed the whole batch - seriously - a small tiny trickle of water glopped up all the orange in about 2.3 seconds!!! Oye! Luckily I had some leftover to re-melt. Ugh. Live and learn.

Then spread/pour your melted chocolate/bark on top of the cookie & candy mixture. It doesn't have to be even or cover the whole pan. I tried to just make sure there was something on every area so there weren't holes in the middle. And I would make this as thin as possible while still covering your cookies/candies.

Finally - pop the pan in the fridge and you're done! Just let it chill for a couple of hours. Then break it up and you're ready to go. The best part about breaking it up is that you just stick a butter knife in and it breaks into all sorts of chunks in all shapes and sizes! Much more fun than even steven squares!

And there's your Haunted Halloween Bark!

Haunted Halloween Bark!

Ingredients:

1 block of almond bark - broken up into pieces
1 bag of candy melts
12-15 cookies
1/2 cup candy

Instructions:

1. Lay parchment paper on a cookie sheet. This recipe makes enough for a LARGE cookie sheet. Cut the recipe down based on how much you want to make and the size of your cookie sheet.

2. Break up the cookie and spread on the pan.

3. Sprinkle the candy around the pan too.

4. Melt the almond bark and candy in separate bowls in 30 second intervals. Depending on how big your chunks are - it should take 1-2 minutes total. Stir in between.

5. Spread bark over the cookie/candy and then take the candy melt and spread over top of the bark. Take the colored bark and use a fork to swirl the color into the white or chocolate a bit.

6. Chill for 2 hours in the fridge.

7. Break up and serve!
